Peeing in a cup at night?

So my mom found out today that I pee in a cup at night instead of peeing in a toilet. It's dark and I don't feel like walking to the other side of the house to pee. I'd rather take 2 steps to a cup and pee. Also I fall back asleep faster. I dump out the pee in the toilet the next day. Opinions please
